Choir highlights planned for 2018-19 include: August 15-20, 2018: Nominated Diocesan Honor Ensemble singers and instrumentalist from LHS Choir participated in Arlington Music Festival and led the music at the Mass with Bishop Burbidge opening the school year for diocesan teachers.
Participating in the LHS Christmas Concert "Silent, Holy Night" on December 20, performing "Sing, Alleluia!"
The 2nd annual "Poole-ing Our Talents" music day at Epiphany Catholic School in Culpeper, on Tuesday, March 19, 2019. Students wear LHS dress uniform and report to the music room after checking in at their homerooms for attendance. We will return to LHS in time for afternoon dismissal. Lunch will be provided by Epiphany Catholic School.
Saturday, May 4, 2019: Singing at the Jubilee Mass celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Benedictine Sisters at Bristow, with Bishop Michael Burbidge as celebrant. Mass begins at 11:00 a.m. Choir members report to the school lobby by 9 a.m. on 5/4 to rehearse in the music room before Mass. Choir is wearing school dress uniform for the Mass (sweaters will not be worn if it is very warm, the Mass will be held outside at the monastery). Mrs. Fancher will provide juice and light snacks to enjoy between rehearsal and Mass time. Families are welcome to attend the Mass and reception following, be aware that traffic will be an issue that day so allow enough time to navigate around campus.
LHS Choir is open to students in third grade and above who can make a commitment to regular attendance at choir rehearsals. To join the choir, download the registration form below and return to the office with payment. We can especially use male voices and upper school students.
Choir rehearsal is held each Thursday, August 30-May 30, after school in the Music Room from 3:15-4 p.m. (No choir practices on half-days or days when school is out. Also no practice on December 20 or May 23, the days of the Christmas concert & spring musical.) Choir members are expected to attend all rehearsals. It is very difficult to rehearse or prepare for Mass properly with absent voices.
Choir members who are also on sports teams should discuss schedules with Mrs. Fancher and their coaches to accommodate both activities: If there is practice on a Thursday - come to choir rehearsal, then report to practice at 4 p.m. If there is a home game beginning at 4 p.m., come to rehearsal until @3:40 to prepare for Mass the next day. If there is an away game, choir members are excused from rehearsal that day. Choir members on Safety Patrol should get a substitute for Thursdays. Please let Mrs. Fancher know your schedule and when you will be absent.
